About us

We are a collection of highly diverse, radically inclusive and affirming pupils of Jesus who come together in Amsterdam and on the Internet to connect, learn, and practice our faith. We are activists, people of colour, people living with disabilities, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, humans taking shelter under the neurodiverse umbrella. We have been to church a million times, we’ve been looking for the right one all our lives, we’ve been to church only once. We’re partners, parents, siblings, children, friends, coworkers, volunteers. People who find comfort and challenge in the message of Jesus, seeking to bring His words to life in our own lives through good, direct action.

Come as you are

Liturgically profound, Biblically curious, societally engaged.

The Episcopal Church is a Christian tradition that combines ancient rituals with a very open, welcoming approach to faith. Its roots are in the Church of England (the initial church of Anglican tradition), so worship includes beautiful old prayers, Bible readings, music, and reflections about everyday life — but you don’t need to know what you’re doing to belong. Questions, curiosity, and uncertainty are all part of the deal.

At its core, the Episcopal Church is more about how you live than about having perfect beliefs. It’s inclusive (women and LGBTQ+ people can be leaders), generally comfortable with science, and focused on love, justice, and community.

How it all got started

All Saints Amsterdam was born in 2022, when an Anglican doubter and the daughter of a legacy came together.

Drawing on a range of modern and ancient liturgies and music, Anglican priest Rev. Howie Adan teamed up with Episcopal priest Rev. Canon Mpho Tutu van Furth began offering Eucharist services in Museum Quarter’s Old Catholic church. Curious minds began to flock, often being drawn to their shared openness, questions, and divergent perspectives on the Christian tradition.

After a successful year, All Saints was ready to join a broader community, becoming a mission church tot he Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe. Howie said goodbye to the priesthood, and, with it, All Saints, and Dr. Kyle Rader teamed up with Mpho to continue building our community. We moved to Vrijburg, where we’ve been gathering on Sundays ever since.

Today, All Saints is made possible by everyone who visits, and in particular by pastor Kyle Rader.

Kyle is an American in the Netherlands, an Episcopal priest, and a theology PhD-turned-church planter. Don’t ask him how it happened.

At All Saints Amsterdam, Kyle helps us explore, reframe, and challenge the Gospel through worship and Bible study. With his deeply theological background, he contextualise the complexities of Scripture by bringing texts into our everyday lives. His disarming charm makes every Eucharist a surprise, never failing to inspire our potluck conversations.
